Personally, I loathe Japanese RPGs. The linearity and lack of creativity drive me nuts.
Some of you, however, will be very interested to know that Microsoft has teamed up with "Final Fantasy" creator Hironobu Sakaguchi for XBox Next RPGs.
Two titles are currently planned, but specifics aren't available yet.

Andre Lamothe, author of a series of game programming books (such as "Tricks of the Game Programming Gurus"), has written a new one: "Retro Game Programming: Unleashed for the Masses". The book covers the eight bit Atari computers (400/800/XL/XE), Commodore 64, Apple II, and TRS-80 Color Computer 2.
The book will be available March 8 on Amazon and March 22 in bookstores.
Previous reports have indicated that the XBox Next (or whatever the final name ends up being) will be available with and without a hard drive. New indications are that it will have a removable hard drive, possibly capable of functioning as an MP3 player:

I ran across iwannaplay.com, and I'm not totally sure what it is:
"I Wanna Play.com is a project of independent game developers, which aims at supporting talented young producers, who create high-quality independent computer games. The objective of this server is to offer games suitable for the whole family."
It's not clear from that how they acquire publication rights to the games, but if you're an indie developer with a game, you might want to contact them:
