PS3 to arrive in Japan in the spring of 2006

Looks like the PS3 will be out in Japan in less than a year and a half. The Inquirer isn't the most credible source in the world, but here it is:

PS2 availability heavily constrained in the UK

Looks like supplies of the PS2 have gotten *really* tight in the UK, much more so than in the US due to a closure of the Suez Canal:

JFK Reloaded

A new interactive documentary seems to be sending shockwaves through a lot of people right now, JFK Reloaded:

http://www.jfkreloaded.com/

Gamers attempt the same shots Oswald made when assassinating JFK. The ultimate question is whether or not its ever acceptable to create interactive documentaries based on historical events in which popular figures died.

I'm of the view that it is. Games should be held to the same standards as other media, and no one would question a filmmaker for creating a JFK assassination documentary.

AMD64 still slower than 32-bit x86 in Unreal

Unreal Engine developers have so far been unable to bring the 64-bit version up to the same performance level as the 32-bit version, and no 64-bit-specific image quality improvements have been made:

PacFish

Get ready to dive into a new world that brings back memories of a classic arcade game: PacFish, a colorful takeoff on the Pac-Man-style maze games.

PacFish lives in a vivid undersea world. There is plenty to eat in the twisting mazes but PacFish is not alone. There are quite a few enemies, dangerous marine creatures such as the Jellyfish, Sharks, Crabs, and many others. Some are persistent and annoying while others are quite clever and seem to have a mind of their own anticipating PacFish's every move.

Along the way Pacfish will find Magic Algae which turns enemies into tasty fish, Turbo Boost to zip through the maze at high speed, and other game rewards. As you play though the 72 levels you encounter more surprises and challenges.

The undersea world has never looked better. PacFish is filled with rich colors and graphics. Undersea shipwrecks, lighthouses, and gently swaying sea plants enhance the tricky mazes. Add in the relaxing Caribbean soundtrack and you have a family-oriented game that is enticing and irresistible.
